Pukekohe Swim Club are pleased to announce that following a process, Cameron Stanley has accepted the Head Coaching position with Belgravia and the Club.
Cameron has an extensive background in swimming. He is a multiple national title holder, New Zealand record holder twice (200 back) and represented NZ on the international stage. Last year he won a number of races at the World Masters games, and earlier this year he medalled twice at the 2017 NZ Opens as part of the St Peters relay team.
Cameron started Coaching at North Shore in 2008 where he progressed to assistant Head Coach in 2014. He is a life member of the North Shore Swimming Club. He then moved down to Cambridge in 2015 with his work as an engineer, and coached at St Peters until July this year. He is well qualified within the NZ Coaching framework and has completed the Performance Coach Advanced Course run by Sport NZ.
In 2011 Cameron completed a Science and Arts degree at the University of Auckland (with a number of majors) and in 2012 a Diploma in Engineering. Cameron worked as an Engineer in Cambridge up until July this year when he decided to return to Auckland to complete a Diploma in Information Science at Massey University.
Cameron has a keen interest in music, and enjoys a number of other recreational and sporting pursuits.
Cameron is based on the North Shore until he concludes his studies. He will have a lead role in program design and performance, and individual swimmer and coach development. Due to his studies and travel challenges he will be poolside for some but not all sessions, with these duties to be shared between the coaching group. Cameron believes in working as a team, creating an environment that empowers coaches and swimmers, and importantly an environment that everyone enjoys.
We are currently in the process of arranging a suitable time for Cameron to meet with parents and swimmers, prior to his commencement in Week 1, Term 4, with further details to follow in due course.
