Eleven young swimmers departed Auckland today to represent New Zealand at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Bahamas from July 18th – 23rd. The Games will be Bahama's first-ever international multi-sport event and the largest-ever edition of the Youth Games with up to 1300 athletes competing.
The athletes spent last night enjoying a number of team bonding activities and together created a team mission statement.
Obituary of Someone Else.
I know that all of you were saddened to learn this week of the death of one of our committee’s most valuable members -- Someone Else.
Someone’s passing created a vacancy that will be difficult to fill.
Someone Else has been with us for many years, and for every one of those years, Someone Else did far more than the normal person’s share of the work.

Just as a heads up, after almost three years in the role, Clive Power (our Regional Swimming Hub Head Coach) has indicated that he wishes to stand down sometime within the next 12 months. This is not unexpected, given Clive has put his life at Pleasant Point on hold while he helps us establish our Regional Swimming Hub programme.
This gives us plenty of time to find someone who can fill Clive’s flippers (so to speak). And whilst we have got a great deal of time to find this person, the Board has decided to advertise the role now, just in case the ‘right’ person is out there, looking for an opportunity like this.
